Autopia is a car driving attraction at Disneyland that is safe for guests of all ages as there are bumpers on the front and back of the cars, drives at slower speeds, and has a guided track so you won’t veer from your lane to other car lanes. In this video, I am testing the guided track out as I am driving one-handed and holding my GoPro in the other hand. This resulted in a lot of veering around the lanes since it is hard to judge which direction the front tires are facing. You will hear my frustration throughout the drive.

Dating back to Disneyland’s opening day on July 17, 1955, was to showcase the future of the car and highway system which was building up at the time. Walt Disney chose the current plot of land for the park, thanks to being right off the Harbor Boulevard exit of Interstate 5 as the interstate & highways were the future then as a fun and safe way to introduce kids to drive. Guide tracks were for the safety of the park guests to stay in their lane, including children who drove their own at the Midget Autopia. (https://www.yesterland.com/midgetautopia.html) Bumpers were addon later and additional tracks were made for older park guests. In 2000, renovations took place for the Chevron-sponsored Autopia with new cars and the addition of the Chevron mascot cars (https://www.yesterland.com/chevronautopia.html). In 2016, Chevron drop the sponsorship after sixteen years, and Disney picked up Honda as their sponsor, with ASMIO, the robot, and BIRD, the robotic bird. ASMIO and BIRD can be seen though out the attraction.
