Love it or hate it for the song being an earworm, It’s a Small World is a dark boat ride through dioramas featuring animatronic children of the world sing to the tune of the titular named song. Originally opened for the 1964 World’s Fair, the attraction was a huge success and was brought back to Disneyland where it is today (https://disneyland.disney.go.com/attractions/disneyland/its-a-small-world-holiday/). There are versions at Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland. The holiday overlay was started in 1997, now the 25th year of the holiday overlay where the children sing the main song along with Jingle Bells & Deck the Hall (https://www.yesterland.com/swholiday.html). The attraction closes in late October so cast members can get everything set for the huge overhaul and reopen on November 11th this year. The attraction will close again in mid-January to be converted back to its original design.
When I filmed, I happened to be by myself. The cast member seating guests asked for a group of one guest for the last row of the boat, which worked for me since it can be a bit tight for two or more guests. Now I can freely rotate around the camera without a guest next to me while filming or be annoyed by the screen of my GoPro. The guests in front of me, the parents were waving and pointing things out to their children. At least they did not reach outside of the envelope of guest reach, which is what Disney Imagineers (Disney term for imagination engineers) have to keep in mind for the safety of the guests to not hurt themselves, the other guests on the boat, or reach to touch an animatronic.
