“Hold on to your hats and glasses, here is the wildest ride in the wilderness!” Welcome to Big Thunder Moutain Railroad, a rollercoaster that takes you on an unmanned mine train through caverns of a gold mine that had its heyday back in the 1850s gold rush and the nearly abandoned town of Rainbow Ridge, the now abandoned mine cars are powered by a mysterious force to be the wildest ride in the wilderness that guests come far and wide to ride, per the narrator of the Mark Twain Riverboat.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the successor of the much tamer train ride of Mine Train through Nature’s Wonderland, which was from 1956 to 1977. Big Thunder opened on September 2, 1979, to bring thrills to Disneyland as it is tame in speed, however, the centripetal force of the curves will shove you to the side of the car. Due to that, I was holding onto my iPhone 14 Pro Max for dear life while recording this point of view.
