The video version of my blog post.

After working nine days in a row since I requested the weekend off for the Travel & Adventure Show, which you can check out on the blog, I worked the following weekend. I wanted to go on a quick run to Disney California Adventure as it was a couple of days before the start of the DCA Food & Wine Festival from March 3rd to April 25th, and Pacific Wharf is getting refurbished to be San Fransokyo Square, from the movie Big Hero 6.

During my work week, Southern California has been fighting its second huge parade of winter storms of the year, this past week. Check out KTLA’s pictures of the wild weather. Residents and visiting guests needed to make sure to bring a rain jacket and umbrella. Today, there was even hail, which I missed since I got home and was working on this video when I got back, but it was hail/snow at Disneyland according to ABC 7.

Snow on the San Gabriel Mountains from the recent storms.

On the way to Disneyland Resort at 11 am, I saw that there are unlabeled transit buses driving around the Anaheim Resort area and parked at the Toy Story parking lot. I tagged Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) about those buses and they said it was not theirs. I am not sure whose buses are those, but on the said all of the buses were contracted, so who knows? The buses were carrying passengers to Disneyland from somewhere, but it is not ARTs.

Whose buses are these? Not Anaheim Resort Transportation, that’s for sure.

The large Disney 100th anniversary medallions are said to be now interactive with the MagicBand+ according to Mice Chat. When you get close to them, it is supposed to glow and vibrate, however, mine only just vibrated a couple of times and didn’t glow.

In California Adventure, Cast Members for the Food & Wine Festival Marketplace booths were getting training about the processes of the carts for food ordering, preparation, and pick up. Since Cast Members were at all of the stalls, I was not able to closely examine the menus, but you can check out the full list of carts here. It is almost Avocado Time! I wanted to go to the drink seminars, however, they are all on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, which are all booked out for me who has the Dream Magic Key annual pass, oh well, I am sure the seminars are already booked up anyways.

It is almost Avocado Time! Food & Wine Festival to start at California Adventure from March 3rd to April 25th, 2023.

Next is San Fransokyo Square to take over the last unthemed area of DCA, Pacific Wharf. San Fransokyo Square is based on the movie Big Hero 6’s not-too-far-distant future alternative universe. The movie version of the city is if Japantown architecture was all over the city as the Japanese immigrants in this timeline had a lot more influence on the architecture of the city after rebuilding from the great earthquake of 1906 in their universe. The land is based pretty much if all of the canneries of Fisherman Wharf went out of business and technology offices and restaurants look over, just like the real San Francisco piers, and/or just be one giant touristy shopping center like Pier 39.

Pacific Wharf is in the process of being transformed to San Fransokyo Square from Big Hero 6.

The blue steel truss bridge linking the parade promenade to the pier getting renovated into the Big Hero 6 equivalent of the Golden Gate Bridge. On March 1st, the bridge is getting painted an orangish color tone similar to the Golden Gate. Towers simulating the suspension part of the bridge will be put up after painting.

The formerly blue truss bridge, is now being painted Golden Gate orange to be the Big Hero 6 version of the Golden Gate Bridge with suspension posts to be added later.

According to the Disney Parks Blog article, there will be restaurants and small business shops to eat & shop. It seems like all the current restaurants would stay as is, but will have a Japanese fusion menu, i.e. Cocina Cocamunga will be Port of San Fransokyo Cervecria that will mix Spanish, Japanese, and English cuisine. Where the Karl Straus beer cart is located is going to be a Baymax meet & greet, however, the future of the Karl Straus at the parks is uncertain if it will be relocated to stay inside the wharf, be outside the wharf, or end its partnership at the parks.

That is all for this episode of AntSol Travel Disneyland Resort updates, I hope you enjoyed the video, and thank you for watching.
