Good morning! My parents did a quick visit to visit my sister & me in Anaheim from our hometown in Concord in the San Francisco Bay Area, 390 miles away from Anaheim, 30 miles from San Francisco. My sister & I were raised in Concord and our parents still reside for now, until my dad retires, and they would move to Orange County then. They stayed with my sister & me for the weekend of May 20th for belated Mother’s Day, as they were visiting family in northern California last weekend.
Last night, we went to Church at Christ Cathedral off of Chapman Ave., the central regional Church for the Diocese of Orange County, looking over 56 Parishes in the county. The campus was previously owned by a televangelist, however, they went into bankruptcy in 2010. The Diocese bought the campus in 2019. The main cathedral is all glass with shaded to redirect sunlight.
After Church, we went to Downtown Disney to eat dinner. Parking at the Downtown/Simba parking lot, costs $10 when you shop or eat there and get it validated to $10! It is perfect if the guest wants to check out of the hotel but wants a last taste or Disney store item, before heading home.
On the way in, the former AMC theater lot construction fences encroached on the Downtown Disney live stage, making it a bit hard to navigate around the gusts watching the performances. They had performances in honor of Asian & Pacific Islanders heritage month, including Chinese lion dances.
My parents & I went to Tortilla Joe’s and we were seated immediately, other restaurants like the Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio, had wad wait times. At the time, was the Lakers vs Denver Nuggets basketball playoff game, however, there is only one TV at a four-person bar, with the TV hanging over a kitchen door. For dinner, I got chicken nachos and a Blue Moon Belgian White, both were good & the flavor compliments each other well.
After dinner, my mom & I went to the World of Disney store, where I got a Disneyland Starbucks water bottle, and my mom got a reusable Starbucks bag & Mickey-shaped hand soap, which I paid for as part of my Mother’s Day gift. I also got my mom a Starbucks gift card earlier in the week, they have new gift card designs for Orange County & Los Angeles, and I got her the OC card that celebrates the surf culture of the county.
On the way back to the car, it was 9:35 pm, which was time for the fireworks. However, since I live and work down the road, I only needed to take a picture and head home.
Thank you for reading and have a great day!
