Friday was my first Angels game of the season due to scheduling conflicts, but I finally got to a game! The game was the Los Angeles Angels @angels vs Arizona Diamondbacks @dbacks at 6:37 pm first pitch, with TV broadcast on Apple TV+ subscription. Giveaway was a beach hat, handy when I go to the beach. It does not work for jogging or cycling since it moves around when you go faster than a walking pace.
For dinner, I wanted to eat a sandwich since I ate out a bit too much after traveling a few days before then. Angels Stadium thankfully has a Jimmy Johns stand and I got a turkey sandwich, the most healthy item at the stadium. To drink, I got Pizza Port Brewing’s California Honey Blonde Ale! Based in Solana Beach, located 72 miles from Angels Stadium. After I got my sandwich & beer, I met up with @ashleysolhtalab & @lorenwrld , who are my sister & her friend respectively, who both got spiked frozen lemonades & ate before I got there.
It was a couple weeks before the MLB All Star Game in Seattle, the results were in and the Angels once again got
Mike Trout & Shohei Ohtani for the All Star Game, July 11th!
For the game, it was Angels pitcher, Griffin Canning vs The D-Backs pitcher, Tommy Henry, while Shohei Otani was the Angels designated hitter. TheD-backs scored a run in the first inning. Then Canning was in a tough spot in the second with bases loaded and he gave up a grand slam to Lourdes Gurriel Jr., making 0-5 D-backs.
In the 6th inning, right when we were getting food, Shohei Ohtani hit a home run, making it 1-5. This was also his 15th home run for the month of June and 30th this season!
In the top of the 8th inning, Victor Maderos made his MLB debut, then got completely shelled with bases loaded, at least only one run was scored, 1-6.
In the bottom of the 8th, Andrew Chafin, who pitched for the @athletics back in the latter half of 2021, walked Ohtani as his first batter. Who was later scored in for 2-6.
In the top ninth inning, a feral cat ran across the field and into the field box seats to unsuspecting fans’ surprise. The rest of the inning were all outs and ended my first Angels game of the season.
Final attendees count: 34,957 according to ESPN, due to Friday night, a giveaway, summertime, and the many people who come just to see Ohtani. Have a great night!
