When traveling, I always try to eat locally. When I went to the Riverside Art Museum in Downtown Riverside, located 40 miles from Disneyland, I wanted some cheap tacos. Located a few blocks from the Riverside Art Museum is the Retro Taco, located on the Main Street Promenade. I happened to be there on Taco Thursday, I was there to get three hard-shell tacos with either beef or chicken. The tacos were great, with the hard shell tacos complimenting the flavors of the chicken & the fillings. They also have a large menu of Mexican food as well, such as burritos, enchiladas, and more!

The Retro Taco is a casual bar that serves Mexican food to the hungry city, county, and business office workers during the day, then it becomes a lively bar at night with a stage that hosts late-night comedy & open mic night. They also sell art pieces from local artists as Riverside has a large art scene, thanks to the Riverside Art Museum. Retro Taco has a relaxed retro vibe with wall art hearkening back to the 70s & 80s pop culture.

They have a full bar with thirty beers on tap if you want some brews with your tacos or. If you want soda, they have a Coke-Cola Freestyle machine for any Coke-Cola branded soda combination. However, I had neither of them since I was recovering from my hike up Mount Rubidoux, and I only had filtered water from the soda machine.

Want to go there? Visit Retro Taco at 3744 Main St, Riverside, CA 92501. Please note there are only paid street & garage parking, no free parking. It is a few blocks from the Riverside Art Museum & the Cheech (Review coming soon). Driving from the Anaheim Resort, it is forty miles away via California State Highway 57 & 91 from Katella Avenue.
