JW Marriott Desert Spring Resort & Spa is a AAA 4 Diamond golf resort hotel, located in Palm Desert in the Coachella Valley, California. It is in an arid desert climate, perfect to get away from the much cooler climate-wise to Los Angeles & Orange Counties during the winters, and due to the rain shadow effect, was just cloudy here while it was raining in Los Angeles later that day. The JW Marriott Desert Springs is located 105 miles from Disneyland, and 123 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Self Parking is $28 per day, while valet is $40 per day.

The JW Marriott has 882 rooms, over 23,000 sq ft of event space, nine food & beverage outlets, and hosts two full eighteen-hole golf courses. The JW Marriott & the adjacent Marriott Vacation Club Desert Springs Villas, are built around the Valley & Palm golf courses, with the first tee-off at dusk and ends at 5 pm, with greens fees ranging from $160 to $70. They got to keep the greens nice & fresh, along with the cost of being in a destination desert setting overall.

Panorama from the Oasis Pool area.

To keep everyone else busy while you are out golfing, there are the Oasis Pool & hot tubs, pick up a tennis racket with a Desert Springs Tennis Club, feel the world melt away at the Spa at Desert Springs, stay in shape at the fitness center, and play in their a hundred plus cabinet arcade.

In this video, I was biking and walking on the lobby levels around the JW Marriott in all of the public areas of the resort, starting from the driveway off of Country Club Drive, through the parking, and going towards the spa. I go then towards the back of the hotel towards the Oasis pool and golf registration. Thereafter, I carried my bike up the stairs to the main level, look out to the pool, and then went for a quick restroom break at the locker rooms, located across from the Pro Shop. After that, I walked my bike down the walkway past the Fisherman’s Landing Bar & Grill and several stores that were closed at the moment, mostly clothing, chocolate, and even a photo printing store.

Next was the lobby atrium with an indoor water feature so you can ride a boat through the lake, however, it seemed to be closed for the season. The lobby has the Starbucks, Aquifer65 & The JW Sushi Bar in the seating area below, the front entrance, and the front desk. Continuing down the hallway is a scale model of the JW Marriott building and the surrounding area. Further down the hall is another to the left, past there is the tour bus entrance & Hertz car rental on the left, and on the right downstairs are events spaces & Rockwood Grill. Continuing straight down are the event spaces, which as hosting an event for California Connections Academy at the time. One of the event spaces is called the Frank Sinatra Room as he gave his last public performance there.

Exiting the hotel is the parking deck, going down the ramp and turning right, we go towards the tennis club area. Lastly, I ride on the pathway to where I was staying at the Marriott Vacation Club’s Desert Springs Villas. Keep an eye out for my next video cycling around Marriott Vacation Club’s Desert Springs Villas!

Enjoy the bike ride!
